Legalization Status

Since being wrongfully raided by the Philadelphia Police Department back in 2008, the Shoe Store has been involved in a complicated legalization process with the City of Philadelphia to bring the building up to Philadelphia Code Standards.

What this essentially means is that the Shoe Store is currently "not to code," meaning we are technically not allowed to live in the building or open it to the public. At the time of writing, we have obtained the necessary permits and are moving through the construction and inspection process to resolve this issue.

Every step of this process is costing us money, from materials to permits and inspections. If you are able to donate or would be willing to provide an interest-free loan to the Shoe Store, please feel free to contact us with questions, we would be happy to talk to you!
